Full dentures are always made from acrylic but partial dentures may be made from acrylic or metal. Acrylic dentures have the advantage that they can easily be added to if further teeth are likely to be lost in the next few years. Metal dentures sometimes stay in better as they clasp onto the remaining natural teeth and they can also be thinner and more comfortable to wear.
